HELP THE ANIMALS

HELP THE ANIMALS

Are you an animal lover? Would you like to help an animal charity? Do you want to become more involved with organisations that help animals?? Then check out the following sites and information. It could be something as simple as a couple of hours of your time rattling a tin in the High Street, or sending a cheque to become a Sponsor Mum (or Dad!) to a poor cat or other animal who cannot be re-homed.At the moment I am a Sponsor Mum to Carly (from the Cats Protection), and also Daniel P from The Donkey Sanctuary. When funds allow I donate to the Dr Hadwen Trust. They believe in Humanity In Research. (Further details below). Please do what you can to help the animals – they can’t speak for themselves, there are some cruel people in this world and the animals need someone to speak up for them! Shout out loud!If you know of any charities you would like added to this ever growing list, then please let me know and I’ll add them in for you.
DETAILED LISTINGS
Animal AidThis website provides extremely detailed info about animal rights, and campaigns against animal abuse. Well worth supporting!Animals In Need (Maxicare)The Maxicare dog rehoming centre is based in Northamptonshire. Maxicare is an appeal launched by Animals in Need. They take stray and unwanted dogs from ‘Death Row’ and save them from destruction. The dogs are kept until the right home comes along and no dog is ever destroyed, unless on veterinary advice. The kennels we use offer the best possible care for the dogs while they are with us. Prior to a dog being adopted, a home visit is always made to prospective owners, and an appointment is essential before viewing the dogs. Because we are often unaware of the previous history of the dogs we never re-home them in families with children under the age of five. We do ask for a minimum donation for each dog adopted. Home visits are always carried out prior to any dog leaving the centre and all potential new owners are vetted (as best as possible) to ensure that the dogs are rehomed for life.Maxicare Rehoming Centre

All volunteers are tasked from their headquarters in Cornwall and all help in the ways that are most appropriate to them. Teams take it in turn to visit housebound owners, to take dogs for daily walks; volunteers foster pets as one of their family when owners face a spell in hospital, they take pets to the vet, they go and buy the cat food, clean the budgie’s cage out. We have established a national register of nursing homes, residential homes, sheltered housing for the elderly that will accept residents and their pets.

www.koreananimals.orgKorean Animal Protection Society
Thanks Emma for letting me know about the charity which is based in Daegu, South Korea. Basically KAPS is a not for profit organization currently running two sanctuaries and one adoption shelter. There are approximately 300 cats cared for by KAPS along with a ‘catch and release’ neutering programme. There are also approximately 100 or so dogs, this number changes more regularly because of the adoption centre. KAPS catches more than 2000 dogs and cats a year on the streets of Daegu. Some are abandoned or lost pets, some have been maltreated and some are street animals. In many countries ‘catch and release’ is a great option. In Korea, the dogs on the street are caught by dog dealers for consumption and cats are considered dirty and often beaten. Consequently KAPS is always in need of food donations. They are also trying to increase the numbers of foreign volunteers. Either grooming, walking and training dogs or socializing dogs and cats. If anyone would be interested in this they could email Sunnan direct at: [email protected] WORLDMonkey World is based on the coast and rescues Monkeys (mainly chimpanzees). Help the monkeys live out their lives in comfort!
