I had a consultation and examination with Mr Newman along with a series of x-rays. They were done immediately, no waiting for them. I could get used to this private treatment! He said I had a possible stress fracture of my tibia. You could see on the x-ray a line across the bone and a small black area, which he said was the bone trying to heal itself already. Sounds like a good sign to me. I asked if there was anything "nasty" in my leg and he said "99% there is nothing nasty like cancer in your leg, it looks like a stress fracture". Pure and simple, phew...that's a relief! Pain still awful and am limping really badly. He asked if I could bend my knees, I can't even lift my feet sometimes let alone bend the knees! Although worrying, it's not as bad as it could be. He referred me to St. Peters Hospital, Chertsey for an Isotope Bone Scan to confirm the fracture. Hopefully then I can be all sorted in about six weeks. Lots more rest and no long walks or pressure. |
